This is the Top Line only that goes from the junction near the headstock to the front brake reservoir
Braking technology and performance has come a long way in the last few years so we were a bit baffled to see that Honda choose to put archaic rubber brake lines on their premier adventure bike. The same person that choose the stock footpegs probably had some influence on the decision ;)
We recently upgraded our Africa Twin to the Galfer Stainless Steel brake lines and the improvement is significant to say the least. Better feel, better performance, better control and less fading once things really heat up. Plus they are less susceptible to damage on the trail which is another important consideration!
In addition, for 2017 Honda decided to CHOP the length of the front brake line to the lever by about 3 inches, making it impossible to mount handlebar risers on the 2017 models. We have custom ordered the kits we carry to be compatible with handlebar risers up to 2 inches tall.
Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L (2016+)
Suitable with handlebar risers up to 2 inches
Please note: We installation of this top line is MUCH easier than the full kit but may still require the use of a professional technician as the ABS system may need to be bleed properly to ensure correct functionality.
Aftermarket stainless steel brake lines may look similar, but they are not the same! Every Galfer stainless steel line is made with only DuPont virgin grade PTFE inner core, 64 strand braid and our fittings are probably the most expensive, but highest quality you can find on the planet. These are the same fittings that Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati uses, among a few other high end OEM’s. Our lines come with a lifetime warranty. Not because we make them at a low cost and can afford to easily ship out replacements, but because they are made extremely well. We also include all mounting components, extra washers, line end labeling, and bike specific installations, some with DVD’s. Depending on the application (ABS or non-ABS bikes), this line kit will seamlessly replace stock. R&D and manufacturing is here in the US, along with our customer accessible tech support team. Race team tested and proven!
Stainless Steel brake lines are typically the first brake upgrade you should make. Stock rubber lines will break down and expand, causing a spongy brake feel or worse. Steel lines eliminate expansion which results in consistent feel and performance.
