  DESIGN NOTES  

Leveraging our 18 years of designing skid plates, we have developed what we expect to be the most rugged design available on the market, while being easily installed and easy to remove for maintenance.

We are hoping that our fellow riders realize that a skid plate is only as good as its foundation. Many skid plates looks similar and may even provide coverage, but without a solid foundation the skid plate may fail and damage the bike, which is why we utilize the most solid mounting point available on each model.

That said, we have developed a one piece mount that ties into multiple points at the front of the bike as well as ties into the frame at the rear. In addition we have developed a "shok blok" to help absorb and disburse the energy from any large impacts. All this is done in such a way to provide the ULTIMATE protection for the motor.

We have also maximized ground clearance and streamlined the design to fit with the lines of the bike.

Another important design requirement is that it must be easily removable for maintenance. Just 4 identical bolts to remove the skid plate from the mounting system. For this model especially, leaving the skid plate on the bike for oil and filter changes is just not an option as it will create a HUGE mess and create the risk of getting oil on your rear tire which as obviously very hazardous

Comprehensive Engine Coverage
Larger dimensions mean your expensive engine has maximum protection. Plus, it fully protects the clutch, ignition cover, header pipes and catalytic converter—most other brands don’t. Other designs leave these completely exposed which can lead to a very expensive repair (the header pipes alone are $1,700 + labor).

Unique ONE piece mounting system
Our unique one piece mounting system ties the anchor points at the front of the bike to the frame in the rear, providing a tremendous amount of strength to the skid plate. You won't find a stronger foundation for mounting a skid plate to this model. The mounting system stays in place for regular maintenance and provides plenty of easy access to the drain holes.

Frame Mounted
Attaches to the frame at the rear of the plate. Saves your engine case from potential damage.

More heft—3/16-inch (4.76mm) of 5052 Aluminum 
You get what you pay for. And we found the optimal material to protect, perform, and last. In fact, it may very well outlive your bike. The grade of aluminum we selected is designed to ABSORB impacts, not transfer the force to the mounting points on the bike.

Smooth Bottom for Clearing Obstacles
No holes to snag on rocks or branches. This plate glides on its own—right up over most obstacles without exposed bolts, rubber sliders or rivets to catch or break off.

Accommodates Stock Center Stand
Eliminates the need for an extra center stand bash plate.

Unique “Shok-Blok” Protection
We take a unique approach by utilizing a rubber “Shok-Blok” between the mounting bracket and engine case to help disburse the energy from large impacts.

Coverage of the Catalytic Converter
The skid plate extends rearward to prevent any direct impacts to the catalytic converter

Quick Change Artist
The skid plate removes from our mounting system with just 4 bolts for oil changes! No disassembly of the mounting system required.Saves on service costs at the dealership too!

Powder AND Clear Coated
Looks great and takes the punishment that anodized finishes can’t.
