DESIGN NOTES
With all the excitement around the release of the KOVE 450 Rally, Black Dog Cycle Works has answered the call with our Ultimate Skid Plate and integrated Tank Guards for this model. While the stock carbon fiber skid plate is light weight, it is not rugged enough for the action these bikes will see all over the world.
The cradle frame of the KOVE 450 Rally made the mounting points a simple affair, but integrating the vital tank guards was not. In an effort to save weight, we made the tank guards out of 1/8" 5052 Aluminum, while the skid plate is made of the tried and true 3/16" 5052 Aluminum, which has proven itself to withstand a beating for the long haul. As many of you know our skid plates often outlive the bikes they are installed one, while saving the rider countless $ is repairs, inconvenience and unnecessary retrievals from the backcountry.
Make no mistake, this skid plate is HUGE in order to protect all the vital components and including the tank guards, weighs in at only 10 pounds.
The optional linkage guard is available to protect the linkage on the rear suspension.

You get what you pay for. And we found the optimal material to protect, perform, and last. In fact, it could outlive your bike. The grade of aluminum we selected is designed to ABSORB impacts, not transfer the force to the mounting points on the bike.

Smooth Bottom for Clearing Obstacles
